Book Reading Bingo Challenge
The library conducted a Book Reading Bingo activity for the whole school community from Mid-November to Mid-December. This was an incentive program designed to motivate and reward students for reading a variety of books, authors and genres. They were given a grid of genres to complete in a nine box bingo activity. Non-fiction as well as fiction were part of the reading exercise with specific genres to include such as comics/graphic novels, biographies/autobiographies, local/Indian authors, animal stories, real life stories, second language books...
There was a great response from our
learners, especially from the primary section who earnestly borrowed books from
genres that they would have otherwise ignored or overlooked meeting the key
objective of the challenge of providing exposure to different types of authors
and books. At the end of their reading and completion of the entire grid or
even of certain lines prizes in the form of certificates and badges were given
out which served as motivation to the other learners.
