Letters To Santa!

The library had placed a drop box where learners were asked to write a letter to Santa. They were asked to write about one act of kindness that they had shown to their friend/s or family members recently.

We saw that the learners were excited about the event and eager to participate.

The library had also Christmas theme related books on display and the children loved the display and borrowed most of the books too.

During the read aloud sessions, the librarian read aloud Christmas related picture story books to the kids.

Merry Christmas & Season’s Greetings to All!

 Book Reading Bingo Challenge

The library conducted a Book Reading Bingo activity for the whole school community from Mid-November to Mid-December. This was an incentive program designed to motivate and reward students for reading a variety of books, authors and genres. They were given a grid of genres to complete in a nine box bingo activity. Non-fiction as well as fiction were part of the reading exercise with specific genres to include such as comics/graphic novels, biographies/autobiographies, local/Indian authors, animal stories, real life stories, second language books...

There was a great response from our learners, especially from the primary section who earnestly borrowed books from genres that they would have otherwise ignored or overlooked meeting the key objective of the challenge of providing exposure to different types of authors and books. At the end of their reading and completion of the entire grid or even of certain lines prizes in the form of certificates and badges were given out which served as motivation to the other learners.

Book Fair @KC High

“A book is a gift you can open again and again.” — Garrison Keillor

A book fair was held in our school for pre primary, primary and middle school learners. Tulika Publishers, Karadi Tales and Scholastic India were invited. The book fair was held for 3 days. Every day the fair remained open from 8.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.

We saw enthusiastic learners with their parents visiting the stalls to buy the books of their liking and interest. It was a great to have such a varied collection of books under one roof.
The one thing that fascinates me the most about book fairs is that it gives a chance for book lovers to directly get in touch with publishers. Moreover, publishers get first hand information about customer preferences.
